Booking a shoot - FAQs
Questions my potential clients often ask me...
The art of a successful ‘partnership’.
You need to be certain that you choose the right photographer to capture the memories of your wedding day. One of the most important questions you need to know the answer to is ‘Will we be able to work together and enjoy the experience?’. Offering all brides and grooms the opportunity to have a pre-wedding booking test shoot gives you the opportunity to get to know me, to see how I work and this will ensure that you are more comfortable and confident when I take your photographs on the wedding day itself. Getting to know you and talking with you prior to the wedding day ensures that I can work to capture the images which reflect your style and your personalities.
Colour images or black and white?
Shooting your wedding in digital format enables me to present your pictures to you in both black and white and colour format. Some photographs work fantastically well in colour format while others lend themselves to the classic look of black and white. Presenting all of your edited images to you in both formats gives you the option to decide which you prefer.
The ‘two photographers’ experience - what does it bring to your day?
Two professional photographers will be covering your wedding. What difference does this make to the resulting photographs? Throughout your day, I will be taking the principal shots of you. Having two photographers means that we can offer you an exceptional portfolio of edited images from your day - from the romantic close-up portraits of the both of you to the relaxed, unobtrusive and informal candid shots of you and your guests. With two photographers attending your ceremony, your presented images will include beautiful close-up shots of you standing at the front of the church as you exchange your vows as well as some gorgeous wide-angle atmospheric shots taken by my colleague at the back of the church or room.
‘I’m not really photogenic…’
The majority of my brides say this to me when they first meet me and, as a woman, I can fully understand that fear of being photographed! It’s very rare to meet someone who is 100% relaxed in front of a camera. Meeting with you prior to booking, and then again two weeks before the big day gives you the chance to get to know me. The building of friendly familiarity and the added experience of already having been in front of my camera means that you’ll feel more relaxed and will enjoy the experience of being photographed far more than you'd previously imagined possible. You won’t be asked to look straight into the camera if you’re not happy to do so, and it’s usually the case that you’ll be so relaxed that you’ll barely remember the way the images were taken! I want to present you with a selection of images that you'll cherish and the best images are captured when the bride and groom are relaxed and at ease with their photographer.
Pre-wedding coverage.
Being a female photographer is a HUGE advantage during the pre-wedding preparation stage of your day. No one will feel uncomfortable or awkward if they’re still changing as I collect images of your dress, shoes, flowers and other details of your preparation. I will also be able to take some beautiful shots of your dress being laced up and I am able to take the opportunity to capture some romantic shots of the bride as she waits to leave for the ceremony. In fact, I have sometimes been asked to help out when time is running short - helping the bridesmaid to put on her shoes, pinning buttonholes onto lapels…it’s all a part of the fun!
Unsuitable weather conditions?
You will have chosen your wedding venue with great care - I am as happy to work indoors as I am to work outdoors and given the undoubted beauty of you venue, there will always be somewhere to use as a romantic backdrop for you photographs indoors - just as there would be outdoors. I always ensure that I have back-up plans should the unexpected (and unwanted!) happen.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes, I cover weddings across the UK and I am also available for commissions abroad. It is possible to do this at no extra cost or at minimal cost e.g. if possible, I will travel to and from venues across the south by road and within my pricing structure. If travelling further afield, travelling expenses will be kept to a bare minimum.
Copyright and ownership of the images.
All images taken on the day belong to the photographer and it is a criminal offence to copy the images - whether by scanning purchased photographs for printing or copying from the internet. I do offer all my clients the opportunity to purchase the presented images on a copyright-free DVD. If you decide to purchase this, you may reproduce your photographs as many times as you wish (whether printing copies for relatives and friends or emailing the photographs) without infringing current laws regarding copyright and ownership. Prices for purchasing a DVD can be found in the ‘Wedding Packages’ section of my website.
